]]> The Transportation Policy class worked with Lane Transit District (LTD) to develop a series of policy proposals developed over a 10-week term intended to provide the basis for developing LTD鈥檚 Long-Range Mobility Plan (LTD Connect 2045). The students鈥 policy proposals provide a vision for the future of an equitable, sustainable, and transformative transportation system in Eugene-Springfield and the broader Lane County area. Students worked in groups to research transportation policy through the lens鈥 of education, social capital, economics, housing, and health. Students imagined policy solutions outside of the Overton window of the next long-range mobility plan and finalized their perspective in a series of policy proposals. Students furthered LTD鈥檚 goals of sourcing imaginative solutions to issues of connectivity and accessibility. The LTD policies that students recommended work to improve mobility, opportunity, built environment, inclusion and accessibility, land use & housing, and evaluation. By impacting the physical, cultural and systemic environments, students believe LTD could further connect and improve their service. The most feasible, impactful, and creative policies are highlighted in this final policy report document.

]]> This project addresses the City of Oakridge鈥檚 capital improvement planning and potential funding sources for the city鈥檚 aging infrastructure, focusing primarily on the wastewater treatment facility (WWTF). Throughout the term students and faculty toured the WWTF, and other locations and produced a SWOT (Strengths/Weaknesses/Opportunities/Threats) analysis. After aggregating and organizing best practices research from comparable communities (e.g. similar geographic and demographic characteristics), and discussing operational and resiliency needs at the facility, a complete policy analysis was conducted. Existing equipment upgrades as well as additional capabilities were evaluated and integrated into a consolidated CIP for the WWTF.

Subsequently, several recommendations were submitted for potential adoption into the City of Oakridge鈥檚 nascent Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) along with needed upgrades. Inflow and Infiltration concerns dominate the overall effective functioning of the WWTF in the near term. A detailed budget and strategy is included as part of the analysis.

In addition to the WWTF, students identified three additional areas for inclusion into the CIP, making general recommendations for water treatment, street maintenance, and public building (incl. energy efficiency) upgrades. These areas did not include a comprehensive policy analysis.

]]> In this project, the student worked with State College Borough on investigating claims of tenant and housing discrimination, analyze current policies regarding housing, and鈥痙etermine any gaps in current policies鈥痮r ordinances period from that research the student plans to establish a clear set of ways to bridge these gaps in knowledge or in justice and determine goals鈥痑nd outcomes to disseminate information.

La metodolog铆a de 大象传媒-N para el desarrollo de proyectos de vinculaci贸n en el marco de la colaboraci贸n CUCEA-Gobierno de Zapopan se ha convertido en un elemento de gran relevancia para la formaci贸n y retribuci贸n social de estudiantes en el Doctorado en Pol铆ticas P煤blicas y Desarrollo. Por lo anterior, la presente propuesta pretende continuar con la vinculaci贸n para el desarrollo de un proyecto que contribuya al dise帽o de la pol铆tica de cuidados del municipio de Zapopan, Jalisco, M茅xico.


El Sistema Integral de Cuidados del Municipio de Zapopan, Jalisco, M茅xico se ha construido a partir de la determinaci贸n de su normatividad y el desarrollo de distintas acciones bajo la estrategia denominada 鈥淣os Toca Cuidar鈥 ; sin embargo, se requiere el dise帽o de la pol铆tica p煤blica que oriente las futuras acciones municipales en materia de cuidados.

]]> The proposed research aims to investigate change in land use and the intensity of land use in highly commercialized areas of KMC and assess the relevancy of existing byelaws. This research proposal is prepared by Kathmandu University School of Management (KUSOM) Policy Lab1 in collaboration with City Planning Commission of Kathmandu Metropolitan City following the 大象传媒 model.2 A city-university pair representing KMC and KUSOM participated in the May 2021 virtual 大象传媒 Asia-Pacific workshop.
Objectives
The objectives of the proposed research are three-fold as follows:
1. Investigate change in land use and intensity in the commercialized areas of KMC and understand underlying causes including particularly market dynamics.
2. Assess effectiveness of existing planning byelaws in mitigating land use externalities as intended.
3. Propose necessary revisions in the land use zoning map and planning byelaws in the context of changed market conditions.

la evaluaci贸n del programa 鈥淢i Estancia Zapopan鈥 que se plantea en este documento permitir谩 obtener informaci贸n sobre los resultados de esta intervenci贸n durante los a帽os 2022-2023 en las variables e indicadores definidos en el apartado metodol贸gico.

Adicionalmente, la presente evaluaci贸n es pertinente debido a que el apoyo que proporciona el programa 鈥淢i Estancia Zapopan鈥 tiene incidencia en el Objetivo 4 鈥淓ducaci贸n de Calidad鈥 y el Objetivo 5 鈥淚gualdad de G茅nero鈥
